Take a look inside the Scandinavian-inspired home

Neutral living room

Dramatic changes were made to this previously untouched Victorian house in order to create the open-plan family home the owners so desired. The perfect balance of light, modern living and child-friendly and comfortable rooms make this a stand-out home.

White living room

In this L-shaped living room, a plasma television screen fits neatly behind a sliding canvas panel.  A purple  sofa and carved coffee table warm up the neutral background.

Living space seating

Indian horse-head statues, symbolising good luck, adorn the stylish white fireplace and are surrounded by matching button-back chairs for a casual, and relaxed seating area.  Shelves in the alcoves provide useful storage, and the colourful spines add a decorative feature to the white background.

Sleek kitchen

Warm wooden counters and flooring soften the modern, streamlined look of this kitchen, while custom-built units and shelves are fitted to maximise space.  A kitchen island adds extra storage, and doubles up as a  breakfast bar.

Kitchen photo montage

The plain white walls of the kitchen are livened up with a montage of family photos, creating a simple, and easily interchangeable feature wall.   The breakfast bar provides another convenient seating area - the bar stools from Aram sit perfectly with the warm wood and stainless-steel appliances.

Upper hallway staircase

On the upper floors and landing, where light flows through large sash windows, the owners decided to soften the colour scheme by adding restful lilac hues, creating a peaceful and relaxing environment.

Bedroom seating

With soft light pouring through the large windows, a Gustavian sofa sourced at an antiques shop, takes pride of place in the calm, uncluttered bedroom.

White bathroom

Louvred shutters allow light into the bathroom, but maintain privacy.  Limestone floor tiles are continued up the wall for a textured feel, and compliment the glossy white bath.

Garden terrace seating

Decking was laid in the garden for a Californian-style feel, with white walls and evergreen shrubs continuing the theme.  The warmth of the white paint and wooden worktops in the kitchen has been extended out into the garden creating an intimate atmosphere.
